Ingredients
  

  • 1 lb ground beef or Italian sausage
  • 1 can 24 oz marinara sauce
  • 1 package refrigerated biscuit dough or dumplings
  • 1 cup ricotta cheese
  • 1 ½ cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 small onion chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat.
  3. Cook ground beef and onion until browned.
  4. Add garlic and cook for 30 seconds.
  5. Stir in marinara sauce and Italian seasoning.
  6. Cut biscuit dough into small dumpling-sized pieces.
  7. Spread half the meat sauce in a baking dish.
  8. Layer half the dumplings over the sauce.
  9. Add ricotta and sprinkle mozzarella cheese.
  10. Repeat layers with remaining sauce and dumplings.
  11. Top with remaining mozzarella and Parmesan cheese.
  12. Bake for 30–35 minutes until bubbly and golden.

Notes

  • Use ground turkey for a lighter version.
  • Add spinach or mushrooms for extra flavor.
  • Let the casserole rest 5–10 minutes before serving.
  • Store leftovers refrigerated for up to 3 days.
