This Authentic Dragon Beard Candy is a traditional Chinese sweet known for its delicate, thread-like strands that resemble a dragon’s beard. Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup corn syrup
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1/2 cup cornstarch for dusting
  • 1/2 cup crushed peanuts or mixed nuts
  • 2 tbsp sesame seeds
  • 2 tbsp coconut optional

Method
 

  1. In a saucepan, combine sugar, corn syrup, and water.
  2. Cook over medium heat until it reaches a thick, taffy-like consistency.
  3. Pour onto a greased surface and let cool slightly until safe to handle.
  4. Shape into a ring and coat with cornstarch.
  5. Stretch and fold repeatedly to create thin strands.
  6. Continue stretching until fine threads form.
  7. Place nut filling in the center and wrap strands around it.
  8. Shape into small bite-sized portions and serve.

Notes

  • Work quickly before the sugar hardens.
  • Dust generously with cornstarch to prevent sticking.
  • Practice improves technique for fine strands.
  • Store in a cool, dry place and consume fresh.
