Ingredients
  

  • 2 ripe bananas mashed
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup cold butter cubed
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 3/4 cup chocolate chips
  • 1 egg for brushing, optional

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 200°C (400°F) and line a baking tray
  2. Mix flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt in a bowl
  3. Cut in cold butter until mixture becomes crumbly
  4. Add mashed bananas, milk, and vanilla and mix gently
  5. Fold in chocolate chips
  6. Shape dough into a circle and cut into 8 wedges
  7. Place on baking tray
  8. Brush tops with egg wash if desired
  9. Bake for 15–18 minutes until golden brown
  10. Let cool slightly before serving

Notes

  • Keep butter cold for a flaky texture
  • Do not overmix the dough
  • Use overripe bananas for best sweetness
  • Add nuts or cinnamon for variation
  • Best served warm
