Method
- Preheat oven to 200°C (400°F) and line a baking tray
- Mix flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt in a bowl
- Cut in cold butter until mixture becomes crumbly
- Add mashed bananas, milk, and vanilla and mix gently
- Fold in chocolate chips
- Shape dough into a circle and cut into 8 wedges
- Place on baking tray
- Brush tops with egg wash if desired
- Bake for 15–18 minutes until golden brown
- Let cool slightly before serving
Notes
- Keep butter cold for a flaky texture
- Do not overmix the dough
- Use overripe bananas for best sweetness
- Add nuts or cinnamon for variation
- Best served warm
