Chicken Dressing Casserole Southern Recipe

Ingredients
  

  • 2 cups cooked shredded chicken
  • 1 box cornbread stuffing mix
  • 1 can cream of chicken soup
  • 1 cup chicken broth
  • ½ cup sour cream
  • ½ cup diced onion
  • ½ cup diced celery
  • 1 tsp poultry seasoning
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • 2 tbsp butter melted

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a casserole dish.
  2. In a large bowl combine shredded chicken, stuffing mix, onion, and celery.
  3. In another bowl mix cream of chicken soup, chicken broth, sour cream, melted butter, poultry seasoning, and black pepper.
  4. Pour the soup mixture over the chicken mixture and stir until evenly combined.
  5. Spread the mixture evenly in the prepared casserole dish.
  6. Cover with foil and bake for 25 minutes.
  7. Remove foil and bake another 15 minutes until the top becomes lightly golden.
  8. Let the casserole rest for 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

  • Rotisserie chicken makes this recipe quicker and easier.
  • Add sautéed mushrooms for extra flavor.
  • Use cornbread stuffing mix for the most authentic Southern taste.
  • Store leftovers in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
