Crispy Homemade Churros Recipe

Crispy Homemade Churros are golden, crunchy on the outside, and soft and fluffy on the inside. These classic Spanish treats are coated in cinnamon sugar and taste incredible when dipped in rich chocolate sauce. Perfect for parties, dessert nights, or whenever you want a warm, sweet, and irresistible treat.

Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup water
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Vegetable oil for frying
  • ½ cup granulated sugar for coating
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Method
 

  1. In a saucepan, combine water, sugar, butter, and salt.
  2. Bring mixture to a boil over medium heat.
  3. Add flour and stir quickly until dough forms.
  4. Remove from heat and let dough cool slightly.
  5. Mix in egg and vanilla extract until smooth.
  6. Transfer dough to a piping bag with a star tip.
  7. Heat oil in a deep pan to about 350°F (175°C).
  8. Pipe strips of dough directly into hot oil.
  9. Fry churros for 2–3 minutes per side until golden.
  10. Remove and drain on paper towels.
  11. Roll churros in cinnamon sugar while warm.

Notes

  • Use a star piping tip for classic churro ridges.
  • Fry in small batches to maintain oil temperature.
  • Serve with chocolate sauce or dulce de leche.
  • Best enjoyed fresh and warm.
