- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a 9×9 inch baking pan with parchment paper.
- In a bowl mix flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, egg, melted butter, and vanilla.
- Stir until a crumbly dough forms.
- Press about two-thirds of the dough evenly into the prepared baking pan.
- Spread cherry pie filling over the base layer.
- Sprinkle the remaining dough crumbs evenly over the cherries.
- Bake for 30–35 minutes until the top turns golden brown.
- Allow bars to cool completely before slicing into squares.

- Use homemade cherry filling for a richer flavor.
