- Heat milk in a saucepan over medium heat
- In a bowl whisk sugar, cornstarch, and egg yolks
- Slowly add warm milk to the mixture while whisking
- Return mixture to pan and cook until thickened
- Add butter and vanilla extract and mix well
- Let pudding cool slightly
- Layer wafers, banana slices, and pudding in a dish
- Repeat layers and top with whipped cream
- Chill in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours
