Ingredients
  

  • 2 lbs fresh cherries pitted and chopped
  • 1 ½ cups granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • ¼ cup water

Method
 

  1. Place chopped cherries in a large saucepan.
  2. Add sugar, lemon juice, and water.
  3. Stir well and bring the mixture to a boil over medium heat.
  4. Reduce heat and simmer while stirring frequently.
  5. Cook for 25–30 minutes until jam thickens.
  6. Mash cherries slightly for desired texture.
  7. Test consistency by placing a small spoonful on a chilled plate.
  8. Remove from heat once jam reaches desired thickness.
  9. Allow jam to cool slightly before transferring to sterilized jars.
  10. Seal jars and refrigerate once cooled completely.

Notes

  • Use ripe, sweet cherries for the best flavor.
  • Stir frequently to prevent sticking or burning.
  • Store in the refrigerator for up to 3 weeks.
  • Process jars in a water bath for longer shelf storage.
