Homemade Easy Cherry Pie Bars Recipe

These cherry pie bars bring all the flavors of classic cherry pie in an easy-to-slice dessert bar. A buttery crust layers with sweet cherry filling and a crumbly topping. They’re simple to make, perfectly fruity, and great for sharing at gatherings or family treats.

Ingredients
  

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • ¾ cup granulated sugar
  • ½ cup unsalted butter softened
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • cups cherry pie filling
  • ½ tsp cinnamon optional

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a 9×9 inch baking pan with parchment paper.
  2. In a bowl mix flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  3. Add butter, egg, and vanilla extract and mix until crumbly dough forms.
  4. Press about two-thirds of the dough evenly into the bottom of the pan.
  5. Spread cherry pie filling evenly over the base.
  6. Sprinkle the remaining dough crumbs over the cherry layer.
  7. Bake for 30–35 minutes until the top becomes golden brown.
  8. Allow the bars to cool completely before cutting into squares.

Notes

  • Use homemade cherry filling for a richer flavor.
  • Chill the bars before slicing for cleaner edges.
  • Add sliced almonds for extra crunch.
  • Store bars in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
