Tart Cream Cheese Lemon Bars

These cream cheese lemon bars are tangy, creamy, and perfectly sweet with a buttery crust. The lemon filling blends with smooth cream cheese to create a rich yet refreshing dessert. Every bite delivers a bright citrus flavor with a soft, melt-in-your-mouth texture.

Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup unsalted butter softened
  • ¼ cup powdered sugar
  • 8 oz cream cheese softened
  • 2 large eggs
  • ¾ cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 tsp lemon zest
  • ½ tsp vanilla extract
  • Powdered sugar for dusting

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line an 8×8 inch baking pan with parchment paper.
  2. In a bowl mix flour, butter, and powdered sugar until a soft dough forms.
  3. Press the dough evenly into the bottom of the prepared pan.
  4. Bake the crust for 12–15 minutes until lightly golden.
  5. In another bowl beat cream cheese until smooth.
  6. Add eggs, granulated sugar, lemon juice, lemon zest, and vanilla extract.
  7. Mix until the filling becomes creamy and smooth.
  8. Pour the filling over the baked crust.
  9. Bake for another 15–18 minutes until the center is set.
  10. Let cool completely and dust with powdered sugar before slicing.

Notes

  • Use fresh lemon juice for the best flavor.
  • Chill bars before cutting for clean slices.
  • Add extra lemon zest if you prefer a stronger citrus taste.
  • Store bars in the refrigerator for up to 4 days.
