Zesty Key Lime Pie Recipe

Ingredients
  

  • 1 ½ cups graham cracker crumbs
  • cup granulated sugar
  • 6 tablespoons unsalted butter melted
  • 1 can 14 oz sweetened condensed milk
  • ½ cup fresh key lime juice
  • 1 tablespoon lime zest
  • 3 large egg yolks
  • 1 cup heavy whipping cream
  • 2 tablespoons powdered sugar
  • Lime slices for garnish optional

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Mix graham cracker crumbs, sugar, and melted butter.
  3. Press mixture firmly into a 9-inch pie dish.
  4. Bake crust for 8–10 minutes and allow it to cool slightly.
  5. In a bowl, whisk sweetened condensed milk, key lime juice, lime zest, and egg yolks until smooth.
  6. Pour filling into the pre-baked crust.
  7. Bake for 12–15 minutes until the center is just set.
  8. Cool at room temperature, then refrigerate for at least 3 hours.
  9. Whip heavy cream with powdered sugar until soft peaks form.
  10. Spread or pipe whipped cream over chilled pie.
  11. Garnish with lime slices before serving.

Notes

  • Use freshly squeezed key lime juice for authentic flavor.
  • Do not overbake to keep the filling silky.
  • Chill completely before slicing for clean cuts.
  • Store covered in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
